35. Discover PS35 in Round Rock
Since I am originally a Chicago girl, I already have a favorite deep dish pizza place. It’s called Pequod’s and it’s AMAZING!!! Their pie is so thick and filling that one slice is usually all I can handle…and I’m an eater! Also, they do some sort of Carmelizing Witchcraft to the top that makes it ever so slightly crunchy…OMG! You’ll think you’ve died and gone to pizza heaven…seriously!
But, I think I might need to have an affair with New York style thin crust pizza. Don’t hate me, Chicago! I had my first slice of NY style pizza about a week ago at PS35 in Round Rock and Oh My! I won’t say the ‘L’ word. I’ll just say I’m infatuated.
We had the Margherita Pizza with Pepperoni. It came out so thin and crisp and light…never had anything like it before. The Spinach Salad with Sherry Vinaigrette Dressing was light and lovely as well! You can get your pizza by the slice (very New York thing…I know cuz I watched ‘Sex and the City!’) at the restaurant or order carry out or delivery.
I adored the friendly and hip staff and the NY subway vibe of the place was ‘right up my alley’ (pun intended), being as I often miss my own big city. The new owners had a graffiti artist come in and ‘tag’ the place to make it look like you’re in a subway station. Fun idea and, if anything, I’d say they could stand to add a little more graffiti.
They have a full bar with a great selection of themed drinks along with a large beer and wine selection. You can stop in and enjoy Happy Hour every weekday from 3-6pm.
The whole scene is very retro…from the awesome music choices like The Clash, Grace Jones, The Ramones, The Specials and other kick ass late 70’s/early 80’s bands I heard playing on the sound system…to the ‘artifacts’ placed around the restaurant like a pinball machine, a banana seat bike, a ping pong table out back, and my absolute Fave…an artist’s clever rendition of the famous Farrah Fawcett poster from 1976! Love this so much!
PS35 has a deejay on Friday nights and live music on Saturday nights. Their parking lot is plenty big and they are conveniently located right off Route 35 (get it…PS35?) in Round Rock. Another great thing about them is that they appreciate veterans. They offer a 15% military discount so don’t forget to ask if you’re a vet!
PS35 is located at 1500 N IH35 in Round Rock, TX
